The government also places a strong emphasis on talent development and education, with the education coverage rate reaching 99%.​ In summary, Uruguay offers an excellent quality of life and is considered one of the world’s leading democratic and free countries, as well as the most economically and politically stable nation in South America.

Uruguay’s Law 18,250 is the overarching legislation governing immigration. This law allows eligible foreign citizens to obtain local residency status and eventually become permanent residents and citizens. After obtaining residency, immigrants can enjoy the same medical, employment, social, and educational benefits as Uruguayan nationals.

PROGRAM REQUIREMENTS

  • Main applicant must be at least 18 years old

  • Demonstrate a stable income and flow of funds needed to live in Uruguay

APPLICATION PROCESS

1 | Preliminary Consultation

Begin with an initial consultation with Chaucer Team to assess your background and immigration goal.

2 | Signing a Service Agreement

Signing the service agreement with Chaucer Team and to complete the onboarding process.

3 | Travel to Uruguay

Applicant needs to obtain a visa and travel to Uruguay for the application preparation and submission process.

4 | Submission of Permanent Residence Application

Applicants need to visit Uruguay to complete the medical test appointment and Chaucer Team will assist you in submitting your documents in person at the National Migration Office in Uruguay.

5 | Obtaining a Temporary Residence Card

During the processing of the permanent residence application, the applicant will first be issued a temporary residence card valid for 2 years. After obtaining the temporary residence card, the applicant will be able to live freely in Uruguay.

6 | Obtaining Permanent Residence Status

​Once the permanent residence application is complete and approved, the applicant will receive a Uruguay permanent residence card.
