ABOUT LATVIA
Situated on the eastern shores of the Baltic Sea, Latvia is a Northern European nation. With a rich history dating back over a millennium, Latvia has long served as an important trading hub. Even after regaining its independence in modern times, the country has maintained an open, market-oriented economy. Latvia joined the World Trade Organization in 1999 and became an EU member state in 2004, while also being part of the Schengen area.
According to the 2023 Human Freedom Index published by the Cato Institute (US) and the Fraser Institute (Canada), Latvia ranks 15th globally in terms of overall freedom. This places it ahead of the UK, Germany, and the United States in measures of the rule of law, personal liberties, freedom of movement, speech, assembly, and trade.
To attract greater foreign direct investment, the Latvian government has relaxed its immigration policies in 2010 – allowing overseas applicants to secure European residency in exchange for an investment in a business or real estate, through its Investor Visa. Qualified investors can obtain a 5-year temporary residence permit under the programme. This serves as a pathway towards obtaining a permanent residency and citizenship in Latvia, and eventually the right to reside throughout the European Union and Schengen area.

INVESTMENT OPTIONS
Option 1 / Real Estate Investment
Purchase real estate property (residential or commercial property) and receives a 5-year residence permit.

Option 2 / Business Investment
The investor can invest capital into an existing Latvian company or create a new business with up to 50 employees & the annual turnover below EUR 10 million.

Option 3 / Bank Deposit
Make a deposit into a subordinated loan or bonds of a Latvian Bank without interest or a return provided on the investment.

APPLICATION PROCESS
1 | Preliminary Consultation

2 | Signing a Service Agreement
Signing the service agreement with Chaucer Team and to complete the onboarding process.
3 | Completion of Investment
Finalize the chosen investment option and complete the investment.
4 | Application Submission
Applicants must travel to Latvia in person to complete biometric appointment and submit their applications.
5 | Obtaining a Residence Card
Upon the application approval, applicants need to visit Latvia in person within three months to collect your temporary residence permit in the form of an ID card. The residence permit is valid for five years with the requirement of annual renewal of the ID card.
